Local Coffee Done Right
Keith Bradley
Co-Owner
Thank you for sitting with me to talk about you and your business. Can you start out by sharing a little bit about you and what you do?
Of course! It's a pleasure to sit down with you and discuss my passion. I'm Keith Bradley, and I'm one of the co-owners of the Made in KC Cafe right here in our beloved Kansas City. My journey began with a deep love for our community and a strong desire to support local artists and artisans.

At our cafe, we're all about celebrating the spirit of Kansas City. We offer a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can come together, enjoy exceptional coffee, and experience the creativity and talent our city has to offer. We're not just a cafe; we're a hub for local artists, musicians, and crafters to showcase their work. Our mission is to foster a sense of community and pride in everything that's "Made in KC," and I'm thrilled to be a part of that journey.
Everyone is always curious about how people get started in their business or career. How did you get started?
Certainly! My journey began with a deep passion for our beloved Kansas City and a strong desire to support and promote the local community and its artisans. I, along with my co-owners, embarked on the Made in KC Cafe adventure as a way to celebrate the unique spirit of our city.

We wanted to create a space that not only served excellent coffee but also fostered a sense of community and pride in everything that's "Made in KC." This cafe is more than just a business; it's a labor of love and a reflection of our commitment to showcasing local talent, from musicians to baristas.

The idea was to provide a warm and welcoming environment where both locals and visitors could come together, enjoy the finest coffee, and experience the creativity and talent that defines our city. The cafe is just one part of our larger mission to support local artists, artisans, and crafters, and we couldn't be more excited about this journey.
We are always looking for something intriguing. What makes your business, products or services unique?
What sets our business, Made in KC Cafe, apart is our unwavering commitment to our community and our dedication to promoting everything local. We take great pride in our unique approach to coffee and community engagement.

First and foremost, our cafe is a hub for the local creative scene. We provide a platform for artists, musicians, and artisans from Kansas City to showcase their incredible talents. This means that when you visit us, you're not just getting a cup of coffee; you're immersing yourself in the very essence of our city's culture.

Our coffee offerings are also distinctive. We work with a diverse range of roasters, giving our customers a chance to explore a variety of flavors and profiles. While our espresso remains consistent using Messenger beans, our cold brew, drip coffee, and iced coffee are on a rotation, designed to match with our coffee subscription service. This subscription allows coffee lovers to sample the best from different local roasters each month.

Additionally, our cafe is designed to be inclusive and approachable, welcoming everyone from downtown workers to residents and tourists. We've created a space where you can enjoy a local coffee, beer, and shop for unique Kansas City souvenirs all in one place.

But what truly makes us unique is our Cafe au Oui, a cereal milk latte, a one-of-a-kind creation that adds a touch of whimsy to our menu. We're not just about coffee; we're about offering experiences that are memorable and creative.

In a nutshell, Made in KC Cafe is a celebration of all things local, from our artists to our coffee. We believe in supporting our community and showcasing the incredible talent and flavor that Kansas City has to offer.
It's so fun to have an inside scoop about a business. What is something most people might not know about you or your business?
One interesting aspect about our business that many might not be aware of is the personal journey that brought us here. My co-owners and I all have deep roots in Kansas City, and our commitment to the local community is a reflection of our love for this city.

Another lesser-known fact is that we're not just about coffee. We're always looking for new and creative ways to engage with our customers and the local community. We're not content with just being a cafe; we see our space as a canvas for innovation and inclusivity. In the back of our store, we have plans to open a taproom in the spring, which will allow us to host unique events that Kansas City hasn't experienced before.

Additionally, our coffee director and part-owner, Ozzie Mendoza Diaz, brings a unique perspective to our cafe. He has had a diverse journey in the restaurant industry and specialty coffee, including time spent in New Orleans. His experiences and creativity have played a significant role in shaping our cafe's offerings.

We're not just a business; we're a labor of love and creativity, constantly evolving and striving to bring something new and exciting to our customers and the Kansas City community.
